Pizza time!

As a family we have been making many different homemade pizzas almost every Friday for the past several months. Pizza with frozen or homemade bread dough. Pizza that is grilled or baked. Thin crust, thick crust, light toppings, many toppings, homemade sauce and boughten sauce. We're still trying to find that perfect combination.

We got very close to this the other night when my husband's mom was here with her husband. It was so good! It was a deep dish with italian sausage, red onions, a bit of feta cheese, banana peppers and mozz cheese. Oh yes and sauce of course. You will find the recipe he used for the dough here. He made this pizza chicago style. His mother even said that it was pointless to go out and purchase pizza here on out. I agreed.

Fast forward to this evening. We had gotten a coupon from pizza hut that said you could get any size pizza, any toppings for only $10! That seemed like a pretty good deal - especially since Allysha had a book-it coupon to boot. I anxiously awaited the pizza - we haven't ordered out pizza for quite a long time.

I took my first bite and was sorely dissapointed. It was so greasy! I had forgotten how greasy their pizza was. It wasn't cooked right either. I was so very dissapointed.

So, needless to say, we will not be purchasing take-out pizza anytime soon. I'll have my amazing hubby make it;)

It would be fun to get a few new toys for pizza making. The main item, a pizza peel. I think hubby would love that! Have you ever used a pizza peel? If so, how do you like it?

My Adult Tonsillectomy Story

Post Surgery as soon as I arrived home. For anyone who really knows me, I have always been completely terrified of surgery.  So when I went to an ENT and he said I needed a tonsillectomy I was not very happy.  I found out in either January or February and I couldn't make my appointment till the end of June because that's when my husband could get off work to help out.  I wrote this so I could hopefully help someone going through the same thing.  Without further ado, here goes. Week Before Surgery: This is when I started purchasing everything I had seen online that might be helpful.  I also started setting up an area on the main floor where I could be inclined for sleeping and have everything at my finger tips.  At the bottom of this post I will have a list of items that I personally found helpful for my recovery.  I also have food allergies and tried to stay away from them as much as possible.  So my food options may seem different than ma...

Summer Herbal Tea

I made this up a couple years ago and it has def. been a summer favorite for me as well as for my kids.  If you can't drink black tea because of the caffeine (or other reasons), give this a try. Ingredients: 3 parts red raspberry leaf tea (not raspberry flavored) 1 part peppermint tea water Directions: 1. Steep tea as your normally would.  For me I use enough boiled water for a 2 quart pitcher.  I usually add in 6 Red Raspberry tea bags and 2 Peppermint Tea Bags.  If I have bulk, each tea bag itself usually contains about 1 teaspoon of loose tea.  I steep for 10 - 15 minutes, then take the tea bags out. 2. Add sweetener to taste - honey, stevia, etc... 3. Chill. It's that simple. What you're left with is a refreshing glass of tea for those hot summer days.  Below are some benefits of each of these teas.  Use caution when drinking peppermint tea while pregnant.  Spearmint is generally a better option. Red Raspberry Leaf Pepper...
