Board Games and Homeschooling

We have found that if we can add fun into our homeschool, the kids learn much faster.  I was at Goodwill yesterday and found this game; Sunken Treasure Adventure.  Jon and I played it for the first time this morning and had a fabulous time!  The best thing is that he was learning while having fun!  Below is a list of games we have played that have been very helpful not only for schooling, but good, quality family time.  Some are for younger kids and some are for higher elementary/middle schoolers. Games: Sunken Treasure Adventure board game - phonetics Candy Land  - counting, colors Go Fish by Playchest Games - memory Wild Craft - my daughter loves this game! - plants and their healing benefits. Lacing Activities - Make Your Own!

Thanks again to Mandi from amomshideout.com I went to Aldi and purchased the laminator she recommended. We came home right away, printed out a couple word world pictures for Jon and let him color them. Next, I laminated them both. After they had cooled a bit, I used a hole punch to punch holes all around it. We then got the package of shoelaces we got nip from Goodwill at 19 cents and put a knot on one end of each one. Now we have fun and educational lacing activities for our kids :)

Quick and Easy S'mores - 2 Ways!

photo borrowed makesandtakes.com Sometime's you just need a little chocolate:) That's how we felt last night. I was searching for something sweet and naughty, then it hit me - SMORES! Here's how you do it when you're not outdoors. I took one full graham cracker and split it in half. I put just one half on a plate, topped it with some milk chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. I then microwaved for 13-15 seconds - just till the marshmallows puff up. Top with the cracker and eat. Mmmm! Who doesn't love smores? I just found another idea online. Take each graham cracker half and put some chocolate on. Nuke in microwave till the chocolate starts to melt. Add sliced bananas and make a sandwich out of it. Mmmm!
