The Florida Chronicles Part 2

We woke up nice and early again this morning.  In a rush to get back on the road and to our hotel, we packed up quickly and stopped at the nearest Hardees for breakfast.  I started out driving again his morning and didn't at all realize that the Georgia border was so close!  I mean, like minutes away from our hotel in Tennessee!  Crazy!

10:00 we're leaving the Atlanta area.  I can't believe how gorgeous this city is!  We've been flashing pictures left and right.  It seemed to take forever to get through it but we're done it.  The kids are still doing very well, praise the Lord!

Our next stop is lunch.  We found this really neat looking place called McAliter's Deli.  Don't let this cute place fool you.  We went in and it was odd.  It reminded us of a bar but was more like a Qdoba in the fact that they made the sandwiches in front of you to order.  The sad thing, what we got wasn't as great as I was hoping it would be.  It wasn't horrid, but it wasn't great either.  To top it off, my salad had slime in it on the lettuce.  Big turn off. Such is life.  We gather up our belongings and after everyone there was done oogling over Joshua, we piled back in the car for the rest of our trip.

Around 3:00pm I started seeing these signs for peaches.  Since we're in Georgia, I HAVE to get some peaches!  I begged my dear hubby to pull off the highway and he was sweet to oblige me.  At about 3:16 we arrived at Lane Orchards.  Here we thought we'd come to a little stand, but that's not what it was at all!  It was a rather large store with all kinds of fresh oranges, canned peaches, preserves and all kinds of souvenirs.  They also had a little cafe and ice cream shop.  Since the kids and I had already eaten, we didn't get any food at the cafe, but hubby did .  He got a fabulous bbq sandwich that had peach bbq sauce, sweet potatoes fries and a peach flavored sweet tea.  He loved it!  I picked up some peach ice cream for the kids, canned spiced peaches and some peach ammaretto pecan preserves.  We got to sample it all and boy is it yummy!  Alas, all good things come to an end.  Off again on the road!

I have been wanting to eat at Chick-Fil-A so badly but have not yet gotten the chance.  However, I thought this was a cute sign!  For you southerner's, we don't have Chick-Fil-A up here.  Oh how I miss it!

So, interesting things I've noticed so far:
There was a sign that said French Market around exit 89 in Georgia off of I-75.  My mom would love it I'm sure!
Everyone had signs up talking about boiled peanuts.  What are boiled peanuts?
Atlanta had 5 and 6 lane highways.  That's the most I've seen yet on this trip.
Exit 236-A was called Riverdale.  That is also the name of our church!
We saw our first palm tree at exit 60 around 2:05pm
The grass is starting to get green.  At home there's snow!
I have started to see several cotton fields.

It's now dusk but I can't rest knowing we're so close to our hotel!  We're now in Florida!  I've even seen orange trees; something I have never seen in real life before.  Yes, I'm a geek but it's exciting!  We're already seeing that it looks like many roads down here are toll roads.  ARG!

We're so close to our hotel but have to make a stop for dinner.  We're famished!  We ended up stopping at TJI Fridays having a nice dinner but now we're ready to go on to the hotel!

We're now checked in and found out we can do our silly meeting tomorrow.  I'll tell you more about that another day.  Anyway, here's pix of our gorgeous resort room courteous of uncle Mark and aunt Cheri.  Thanks again guys!

The Fountains in Orlando

The kids room. It also had a private bathroom.

Our bedroom. What you're not seeing is the huge tv, jacuzzi tub and huge walk in shower.

The kitchen area.  It had all kinds of dishes, pans, blender, etc...It was really a complete kitchen.  They even gave us dishwasher soap, sponges, etc..

The living room.  The door you see closest to the curtains is the balcony overlooking the pools.

It's now time to turn in for the night.  We'll have more to tell tomorrow.

Boiled peanuts, as I recall from when I worked at a Bi-Lo in South Carolina, are these really, really, and truly disgusting peanuts that are boiled in their shells. Don't know how they become so slimy and yucky.
I like peanuts, but these things are definitely an acquired taste.
Better dry-roasted or ground up in to peanut butter.

My Adult Tonsillectomy Story

Post Surgery as soon as I arrived home. For anyone who really knows me, I have always been completely terrified of surgery.  So when I went to an ENT and he said I needed a tonsillectomy I was not very happy.  I found out in either January or February and I couldn't make my appointment till the end of June because that's when my husband could get off work to help out.  I wrote this so I could hopefully help someone going through the same thing.  Without further ado, here goes. Week Before Surgery: This is when I started purchasing everything I had seen online that might be helpful.  I also started setting up an area on the main floor where I could be inclined for sleeping and have everything at my finger tips.  At the bottom of this post I will have a list of items that I personally found helpful for my recovery.  I also have food allergies and tried to stay away from them as much as possible.  So my food options may seem different than many online. Two Days Before Su

Planters Warts and Duct Tape

So, my daughter ended up having this very sore spot on her heel. I thought she had gotten a sliver in it and it was pushing it's way out. After having my friend, Sheryl, look at it we discovered it was actually a planters wart. After a bit of searching online I found the cheapest and easiest way for removal - duct tape. Sounds like something on the Red, Green show doesn't it? lol I also realized I had one on my big toe on my left foot. As you can see in the pictures above, where the duct tape is there is a clearly defined circle in the center. Underneath there is where our planters warts are. We have been using duct tape now for about a week. Somewhere around day 4, Allysha came up to me and said "some white stuff came off on the duct tape when I took it off". This was some dead skin cells. A day or so later we started seeing black spots inside her wart area meaning it is dying. Allysha has only had hers for a few months while I've had mine for a

Christmas Gift Planning Year Round

Picture borrowed from http://moneysavingmom.com/2011/09/get-a-jump-start-on-holiday-shopping.html/christmas-presents I love to plan my Christmas gifts starting in January.  This helps me not only save money but save sanity.  I save money because I have all year to look for those specific items and it saves my sanity because my family is not stressed about what to get someone.  We're prepared. Here's a few steps that have helped me. 1. First decide if you want to make all/some of your gifts.  If you want to make them, try to find neat and unique ideas online.  I LOVE pinterest.com for getting great ideas. 2. Is there someone in your family that has a lot of stuff?  For those people I get the same thing every year.  For our grandparents we do pictures in some form and homemade goodies.  For my mom and dad, I always get them a gift certificate to a Bed and Breakfast and add in something small for each one. 3. Make a list of everyone you'll need to buy for.  I make
