Trying The Whole Wahlburgers Menu - Part 4

Here we are trying the last 3 burgers on the menu.  It's kinda sad we're almost done.  Maybe we should move onto the salads and other items?  My friends Tonya and Stephanie (different Stephanie this time) met me for lunch.  I tell you what, aside from the food it's so nice to have good company,  and that they are!  We laugh, get weepy (ok that's me), listen, give advice, talk about God.  It's SO good!

Anyway you're here for the reviews so here we go.   First up is the Our Burger.  We told Stephanie we only had 3 burgers left and I wasn't ordering the Impossible Burger so she only really had 2 to choose from if she wanted in on the sharing action.  lol!  She chose the Our Burger which is "1/3 lb burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, government cheese, Paul's housemade signature Wahl Sauce, & pickles."    Again with the toasted bun - this is something this restaurant does that is so, so good!  The sauce was good, the pickles are outstanding.  I noticed that they tasted different and Stephanie agreed.  We didn't realize till later they are housemade.  That makes all the difference!  This was just a good, solid basic burger.  The Wahl Sauce is always good - maybe next time I'd get a bit extra.  With every burger I've had the lettuce and tomato makes zero difference for me.  The lettuce isn't usually crispy and the tomato usually gets lost.  So if you're one of those people who doesn't like many veggies you can totally leave the two of those off and not miss the main flavor of the burger.  If they used iceberg which has a nice crunch we might be having a different discussion here.  I would give this burger a 3.5/5.

Next up I ordered the Fiesta Burger - "1/2lb burger dusted with housemade southwestern spice rub, fresh jalapeños, lettuce, pepper jack cheese, housemade salsa, chipotle mayonnaise and pickles."   This reminded me of the time I ordered The Beast.  I was so sure I'd love it.  Well folks, I didn't love this one either.  It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was hoping for.  First off I need to say that when it comes to toppings I must not have seen it came with salsa.  What!  So obviously it blended in well with everything else.  However when you look at all the wet ingredients such as the salsa and the chipotle mayo the sandwich still seemed dry - weird.  For reference the burgers are medium well - all of them.    The jalapeños however were a great addition!   I knew there was something else spicy and it must have been the pepper jack cheese.  Now, the chipotle mayo was just off for me on this one.  It was too smokey; which I know sounds weird but if you have this burger you will know what I'm talking about.  I think I would almost rather have regular mayo if I were to have this again.  I will give this burger a 4/5.  I really liked the jalapeños.

Last but not least is the Impossible Burger - "plant based burger 1/4 lb patty,  smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, housemade chili spiced tomatoes, & Paul's signature Wahl Sauce."  First thing, yes you can order it medium well.  I know, crazy!  I figured it was just cooked one way.  I only had a tiny section of this burger - not quite a quarter because I am allergic to soy.  But friends, I had to try it for myself.  The first thing that really stood out to me when I was typing out the ingredients for this post was I was kind of surprised at the smoked cheddar, caramelized onions and Wahl Sauce.  If a person were going to get a vegan burger there's no way they could order this the way it comes.  The cheese for sure is a no-go and possibly the onions and sauce.  It's just very strange to me....but moving on.  I tried this burger first out of the 3.  I took my first bite and was pleasantly surprised!  It tasted so good!  The flavor that was hitting me the most was the caramelized onions which I love!  And the burger was beyond what I expected.  The mouth feel was definitely that of a beef based burger.  The taste wasn't perfect but was still equally good in it's own right.  As I was going on and on to my friends about how pleasantly surprised I was, one of them mentioned something spicy in the sandwich.  I had no idea what they were talking about.  It seems like I didn't get any of the housemade chili spiced tomatoes.  So I cannot comment on that but what I did have was honestly fantastic!  If I wasn't allergic to soy I would probably go back for this often!  I give this lovely burger a 4.5/5

Tonya also ordered the fries - a side we had not tried yet.  The fries were very basic but good fries.  Not as big as wedges but not tiny fries either.  They could have used a bit more salt but overall were a good side to pair with a burger.  I'll give these a 3.5/5.

At the end of our meal I had ordered a Grilled Fluffanutta to be shared by us all as dessert. It is grilled bread stuffed with "banana, peanut butter, fluff, and Nutella."  I thought I would like it but I didn't realize I would like it as well as I did.  It was warm, there was a nice butter flavor from the bread and the inside was perfectly gooey.  The proportions were spot on.  We didn't get one overwhelming flavor of anything - just overall amazing satisfaction.  Mmmm. I must go back for this one.  In fact, I must take my boys to try this.  Snack/dessert heaven!  I'll give this a 5/5.    Sorry, no pictures.

So there you have it.   Tonya and I have successfully tried all the sandwiches/burgers at Wahlburgers. Thinking back I would most likely go back for...

Portobello Sandwich
Jenn's Chicken Sandwich
Crispy Haddock Sandwich
Thanksgiving Turkey Burger
Alma's Macaroni Salad
Housemade Chili - had this on my own one day.  It's good!
Sweet potato tots
Thin Crispy onion rings
Fluffanutta

Let me check in with Tonya and see if we want to move on to the Wahlbowls and Fresh Salads.

So, what do you think?  Have you been to a Wahlburgers?  If so, what do you like/dislike?  I'm curious to hear other reviews.

My Adult Tonsillectomy Story

Post Surgery as soon as I arrived home. For anyone who really knows me, I have always been completely terrified of surgery.  So when I went to an ENT and he said I needed a tonsillectomy I was not very happy.  I found out in either January or February and I couldn't make my appointment till the end of June because that's when my husband could get off work to help out.  I wrote this so I could hopefully help someone going through the same thing.  Without further ado, here goes. Week Before Surgery: This is when I started purchasing everything I had seen online that might be helpful.  I also started setting up an area on the main floor where I could be inclined for sleeping and have everything at my finger tips.  At the bottom of this post I will have a list of items that I personally found helpful for my recovery.  I also have food allergies and tried to stay away from them as much as possible.  So my food options may seem different than many online. Two Days Before Su

Planters Warts and Duct Tape

So, my daughter ended up having this very sore spot on her heel. I thought she had gotten a sliver in it and it was pushing it's way out. After having my friend, Sheryl, look at it we discovered it was actually a planters wart. After a bit of searching online I found the cheapest and easiest way for removal - duct tape. Sounds like something on the Red, Green show doesn't it? lol I also realized I had one on my big toe on my left foot. As you can see in the pictures above, where the duct tape is there is a clearly defined circle in the center. Underneath there is where our planters warts are. We have been using duct tape now for about a week. Somewhere around day 4, Allysha came up to me and said "some white stuff came off on the duct tape when I took it off". This was some dead skin cells. A day or so later we started seeing black spots inside her wart area meaning it is dying. Allysha has only had hers for a few months while I've had mine for a

Christmas Gift Planning Year Round

Picture borrowed from http://moneysavingmom.com/2011/09/get-a-jump-start-on-holiday-shopping.html/christmas-presents I love to plan my Christmas gifts starting in January.  This helps me not only save money but save sanity.  I save money because I have all year to look for those specific items and it saves my sanity because my family is not stressed about what to get someone.  We're prepared. Here's a few steps that have helped me. 1. First decide if you want to make all/some of your gifts.  If you want to make them, try to find neat and unique ideas online.  I LOVE pinterest.com for getting great ideas. 2. Is there someone in your family that has a lot of stuff?  For those people I get the same thing every year.  For our grandparents we do pictures in some form and homemade goodies.  For my mom and dad, I always get them a gift certificate to a Bed and Breakfast and add in something small for each one. 3. Make a list of everyone you'll need to buy for.  I make
