Updates, Give Aways and More!

So much has been going on here in our household. Nothing that God can't handle and for that I'm thankful.

First up, the reason I have not posted much is because ever since I've had my son, my health has been very up and down. Praise the Lord for his guidance as to what needed to be done. I'm still building myself up but I'm doing much better. The kids and I had been very sick for a couple weeks as well (not nearly as bad for about 9 of those days). I'm hoping the creeping crud stays away now. lol!

Most interesting is that my son, Joshua is such a joy. He's an amazing little boy with such a great personality. He's always so happy and LOVES to talk. Him and his brother will have so much fun as they get older, I just know it. HE's so in love with each person in our family. Lyshie plays like a little mommy and takes good care of him when I need her for a few minutes. They sure love each other!

As a family we're learning a verse per week. I found this adorable site that has what they call a Children's Scripture Memory Alphabet. Jon has already learned his first verse. That really warms my heart. I wasn't sure if he was ready for it or not but it seems he is! Yeah! Our first verse is..

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray....

The first day Allysha and I read more of the verse. It looks like the pair them down when needed for little one's which is fine. Lyshie and I will just read further into it and get the full meaning. Please pray for me that I will always teach my children of the Lord. It seems at busy/hard times in our lives I sometimes slack in that and I hate that feeling.

I've been on some great online sites lately that I'd like to share with you. Have fun clicking below.

1. Each day Amazon.com has a free mp3 Christmas download. They've proven to be great for the most part. They also have other downloads for free. Check them out!

2. I check out For the Love of Cooking every day to see what new and yummy recipes she has posted. Talk about amazing food! I made her rolls for Thanksgiving and they were loved by all - even my mil who is a bread fanatic. I was very pleased with the results myself. I made the dough in my bread machine which made things that much easier.

3. I stumbled across Organic Food Coupons the other day and was so pleased I did. Here's to saving money on organic foods. Yeah!

4. My last freebie I'm posting for today is a site that has free downloadable creation movies. How sweet is that? Here's the link.

Have a great day!

My Adult Tonsillectomy Story

Post Surgery as soon as I arrived home. For anyone who really knows me, I have always been completely terrified of surgery.  So when I went to an ENT and he said I needed a tonsillectomy I was not very happy.  I found out in either January or February and I couldn't make my appointment till the end of June because that's when my husband could get off work to help out.  I wrote this so I could hopefully help someone going through the same thing.  Without further ado, here goes. Week Before Surgery: This is when I started purchasing everything I had seen online that might be helpful.  I also started setting up an area on the main floor where I could be inclined for sleeping and have everything at my finger tips.  At the bottom of this post I will have a list of items that I personally found helpful for my recovery.  I also have food allergies and tried to stay away from them as much as possible.  So my food options may seem different than ma...

Gardening tips on a budget

Matt planting our $5 tree. It's 3 years old now and is gorgeous!!! A variety of basil panted in a container. Our lovely calendula. This is a family favorite grown from seed. Cherry tomatoes. Squash Another variety of basil. That was just a bit of what I grew a couple years ago. Bean plant. Lovely lavender! Many times I've wanted to plant a massive garden or have several plants I could simply not afford. Not just that but other things such as mulch, weed blankets and more. I hope you find the tips below as helpful as we have. Please feel free to add your own gardening tips. 1. Purchase trees at the end of the season. We've gotten a few trees for $5 and $10 at the end of the season. We planted them and they've done just fine! Talk about a huge savings! You can also do this with bulbs and other plants. :) 2. Use newspaper for weed barrier protection instead of the weed blankets. You'll want to do this fairly thick; anywhere from 5...
