Picnic's in the homeschool

I was reading through a Charlotte Mason Education and saw a part in the book where it spoke of picnics anytime. I thought, how fun would it be to be reading through a book with my children. When we get to a part where the characters partake in a picnic, we do the same! Books like Frog and Toad or Little House on the Prairie. This will be my goal for the next coming months - to tie in a picnic with our oral readings. Picnic's can be indoors too if you can't make it outside because of the weather. Here are some of my favorite picnic foods.

Deviled eggs
Fried chicken
CHicken salad sandwiches
Fresh fruit
Pasta salad
Potato salad
Cookies or Brownies
Homemade crusty bread
Cheese cubes
Lemonade

The Power of Prayer...

I'm ashamed to say I've never read The Power of a Praying Wife till now, written by Stormie Omartian. There is a section in there about the prayer of a mother for her children. What she's seen happen if the mother prayers and what she has seen happens if she doesn't. I LOVE this quote and have now made it my goal to pray this among other things daily for my family. May this also be a charge for you if you don't do so already. If you already do, keep up the good work. I firmly believe prayers are what has and will sustain me and what will sustain our children and our husbands.

"I've observed that people who have had actively praying parents seem to find their life's work early. Their careers may not take off immediately, but they have a sense of purpose and destiny that propels them in the right direction. They don't live with the frustration and aimlessness that the others do. While many parents have an agenda for their children, not enough seek out God's plan for their lives. When a child's life is left to chance that way, a kind of vocational wandering can result."

16 Week Baby Kaake Update

I had my 16 week appointment today which also means in 1 month, I'll be half way there. Yeah!!! They found the heartbeat very quickly this time. Our little bean kicked the doppler 3 times within a minute which was oober cute. Our son did the exact same thing every time they tried to get his heart beat. lol.

My uterus has not moved since the last appointment, which if you can remember I was measuring a month further along. It just grew really fast since this is my third.

I have not gained one pound since my last month appointment which was nice. I had a little extra to lose but I'm guessing at my next appointment I'll have gained a couple pounds. I'll just keep eating and see what happens. lol.

At this point our little bean is about the size of an avocado. How exciting is that? We love our avocado's :)

Let's see, what else.....my iron levels were great which was nice. I was also told I can go off my progesterone supplements now. Being a little cautious I'm having a blood draw on Saturday to make sure my levels are staying high enough and not dropping. That way I will have notice far enough in advance in case I need to get on the progest. asap.

I have my next appointment on April 1st to see what the gender of our little bean is going to be. I'm very excited!

So there's my 4 month update;) We're oober excited!

More baby updates...

So sorry I didn't update sooner. I went to my ultrasound and found out that my due date was correct and no twins. My uterus just grew big fast because of two previous children and implanted very high this time. Baby looks great and he/she was sucking their thumb. That made me feel great since it seems like he/she is very content where they are. I've been feeling movement now for at least 3 weeks, more like 4. So that alone would make me think it was a boy if this one is like his brother. We'll see very soon. :)

Tracing Lines and Adjectives

My daughter's book didn't seem to have enough practice in it when it came to adjectives. So here's a link that has helped us reaffirm what she's doing ot make sure it "sticks".

The next site I fell in love with all over again was abcteach.com My son is almost 3 years old and I wanted to work with him on tracing lines. They have the best tracing line worksheets I've seen online.

Baby Bump Pix....

Well here I'm either 2 days shy of 13 weeks or 17 weeks - or better yet, 13 weeks with twins. We'll find out in two days. I can't believe I've popped out so much with this one. Thankfully my extra baggage is leaving. lol! Please forgive the attire. I've felt pretty crappy today.
