Changes on the Horizon?

I first want to apologize for not blogging in quite awhile. Life has gotten crazy and I had to take time for my family.  In the midst of all this crazy, I have even more so found out that God's ways are not my own.  Funny eigh? For years Matthew and I wanted babies, babies, babies.  With 3 living children and 4 (maybe 5) miscarriages, then moving into adrenal problems we decided we were done.  Did you notice I said "we"?  Funny that. Just a couple weeks ago (has it been that long already), my children left with my mother-in-law to go be with her for a whole week so my body could have a chance to rest.  At least that was MY plan. You seeing where this is going? The very first whole day the kids were gone, I went to the store to pick up a pregnancy test.  Not to see if I was pregnant but to confirm that the reason I was late was because I had been stressed.  This in my mind was to confirm I was indeed not pregnant so I could move on with my ...

My Adrenal Fatigue/Thyroid Walk Part 3

I feel like so much has happened since my last post and yet not.  Let's see.... I had another test a month and a half or so later (maybe two) to see if my tsh, free t4 and free t3 levels had changed and they had not.  Although I will say overall I've been feeling much better.  That is until my doctor said, "Let's do a RAIU" which is a Radioactive Iodine Uptake test.  The reason this test is used is to see exactly what is going on.  He knows I have a nodule on my thyroid and wonders about Toxic Goiter.  Up to this point I had been doing all he asked and to be honest, it was all simple blood tests and such.  Oh and the saliva test which put me down for awhile but still...I wasn't taking toxins into my body.   I was struggling with this RAIU because you take a little pill that is actually radioactive iodine.  The next day, they do a scan and that will show them what's going on. The cons: I have enough health issues, I don't need to add toxi...

My Adrenal Fatigue/Thyroid Walk Part 1

Oh where to start.  I'll start with the birth of my last son.  The birth of my son Joshua was the biggest disappointment in my life to date - at least that I can think of at the moment.  I had worked so hard to prepare for my 2nd Bradley Birth for my 3rd living child.  All to end up letting the hospital put me on pitocin.  My husband said that I did better with this labor than the one with our son Jon.  The thing is...I was doing much worse.  I was in way too much pain the last few hours to even utter a word.  All I knew was I HAD to stay on the birthing ball so this baby could keep progressing down and I could get the labor over with.  I've read all the studies and knew how using an epideral could potentially cause me to have a c-section which is what I did not want.  So...I went on this birthing experience with pitocin and without pain meds.  Hindsight...I would never again not do pain meds with pitocin.  I think it was...

My Journey Towards Better Health and Where I'm at Now

A picture my daughter took of me at the nature preserve. Isn't she a great photographer! I have been asked by several people over the years what led me down this different path. Well, here goes. This is nothing at all against the way I was raised - this is simply my story. As a child I developed hay fever around age 5. You can see in all my school pictures that my eyes are squinted and weepy for the first day of school. My first day of school was always taking mini kleenex packages with me and having semi-swollen and weeping eyes. As I got a bit older I started getting throat, tonsil and ear infections. It got to the point where I would have at least 2-3 cases of each every year. By the time I turned 17 I was calling in my doctor's office telling him what ailment I had and could he please get me an antibiotic. At age 21 as a single mom I had become anti-biotic resistant to everything but the $100 antibiotic. That was something I just could not afford. It was...

My First Green Smoothie!

I had my first green smoothie today with my son and it was quite palatable. You can find more information out about my green smoothie at this link. It's so hard to get the amount of greens we should be having. This is the easy and painless way to do it in my opinion. I hope to do this every day for 14 days at least and see if I have any results.

The No Shampoo Challenge!

I have been shampoo free for almost a month (a few days shy). My first response "ew gross!". However, the more I thought about it, the more it makes sense. We condition our hair to need to replenish it's oil with frequent washings. I had already gotten my hair to the point where I only needed to shampoo 2 days per week to keep the oils down. Any other time I was in the shower I would just rinse well to loosen any dirt. Well, this is just one step above that. Check out the links below. This is for all - yes all hair types. It's not only better for your health but super cheap! http://babyslime.livejournal.com/174054.html#gel http://www.naturemoms.com/no-shampoo-alternative.html Update: This is now October 2018.  I just came across this post and so remember doing this.  I went to a salon and they said the build-up on my hair was terrible as well as on my scalp.  My hair also went pretty limp.  But this wasn't a total bust.  I try to go 2-3 days wit...
